About your instructor: Julie is an experienced fused glass artist and loves to create with glass. Most often you’ll see Julie making beautiful jewelry with fused glass or flameworking. While her career has included being an office manager, she loves the creativity and flow of working with glass. Julie has taught at several studios in Columbus, including Glass Axis and PB and Jammy Glass. She continues to learn her craft and has earned several flameworking certificates from these programs. Julie has always been drawn to glass. As a child she remembers going to Cedar Point and watching the glass blowers. Julie started teaching classes five years ago with both fused glass and torchwork. She notes "it's exciting when you create something and once it’s in the kiln waiting and wondering what it will look like. Glass tends to sometimes change in the kiln. Some good surprises and some not so good, but it’s always like waking up on Christmas morning."
Julie’s teaching philosophy: I like to make sure my students understand the material we are going to be using and how it may perform in the kiln. I like to take the time with students to explain and work with them until I’m sure they will be successful in creating their glasswork.
