Fused Glass Grape Suncatcher, Sat. 5/18

Class Description

This piece is perfect for all those wine lovers to hang in their kitchen windows! Dody Bowman will start with a 3 mm, 6 inch diameter, clear circle. To that you'll add a mix of purple transparent colored pieces to form a cluster of 'grapes'. Mosaic pieces around the edge of the circle will form a colorful border. Vitrograph in several colors may also be added. There will be several colors of mosaic pieces and vitrograph available to choose from. To finish off your piece, wire for hanging and a collection of beads (or supply your own) will also be available. Hang this handsome piece of 'vintage art' inside or out! Class is limited to 12 students, adult class. Students will not be cutting glass - pieces will be provided. Colors may vary from picture shown as you will be choosing your own colors. All supplies will be provided. Dody will coordinate pick-up of your fired piece at class. About your instructor: Dody Bowman was first introduced to warm glass while she was teaching ceramics at the Kapalua Art School, Kapalua, Maui. She loved what you can do with glass and made her living the next 18 years on Maui selling her beautiful glass work in galleries, art fairs and craft events. To continue to learn and grow, she’s taken glass fusing classes with legendary glass artist, Patty Gray, and Master Class fusing with Tonya Veit, AAE Glass, whose work she admires. Dody has been actively firing glass for 25 years. Dody’s teaching philosophy: I want you to experiment and do your own thing art wise, while using my knowledge and experience to guide you on making a piece that will last forever. I want to help you learn the basics of glass, not only to have fun, but to create an amazing piece of your own. Through experimenting with combining colors and thicknesses of glass, I’ll help you understand what happens in the kiln and why.

You may cancel your class up to 5 days prior to the class date to receive a refund, less the 5% service fee. If you cancel less than 5 days prior to the class date, you will not receive a refund. You may pass along your booking to a friend or family member by emailing info@artdock.org and include the replacement’s name and email.
