Marblehead Lighthouse | Thurs. Sept. 28

Class Description

This Marblehead Lighthouse display piece will be 6 x 6. We will start with a base piece of 6x6, 3mm, whispy sheet glass, in a variety of colors for the background (this background piece will be the 'sky' of the piece). The pieces of the lighthouse will be pre-cut and ready for you to position on the background piece. We will fill in the surrounding area with several colors of frit for lake, trees, and lighthouse grounds. A wooden easel comes with this piece to make a nice display! Class is limited to 18. Students will not be cutting glass - pieces will be provided. Colors may vary from picture shown. After the class, Dody will fire your piece and arrange for a day to pick up your piece the following week from 5:30-6:00 at R Coffee Corner. About your instructor: Dody Bowman was first introduced to warm glass while she was teaching ceramics at the Kapalua Art School, Kapalua, Maui. She loved what you can do with glass and made her living the next 18 years on Maui selling her beautiful glass work in galleries, art fairs and craft events. To continue to learn and grow, she’s taken glass fusing classes with legendary glass artist, Patty Gray, and Master Class fusing with Tonya Veit, AAE Glass, whose work she admires. Dody has been actively firing glass for 25 years. Dody’s teaching philosophy: I want you to experiment and do your own thing art wise, while using my knowledge and experience to guide you on making a piece that will last forever. I want to help you learn the basics of glass, not only to have fun, but to create an amazing piece of your own. Through experimenting with combining colors and thicknesses of glass, I’ll help you understand what happens in the kiln and why.

Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your class up to 5 days prior to the class date to receive a refund, less the 5% service fee. If you cancel less than 5 days prior to the class date, you will not receive a refund. You may pass along your booking to a friend or family member by emailing info@artdock.org and include the replacement’s name and email.
