Fused Glass Christmas Trees, Thurs. 12/7

Class Description

In the Christmas tree class this year, Dody Bowman is adding more glass to create tree 'limbs' and go a step further in the glass building and fusing process. Don't worry! You still may choose to color your trees with only frit! In decorating your trees, all the tree trimming elements as last year (plus some!) will be available. Shells, dots, stringer, noodles, murine! You name it!. THREE trees are included in the class price. All will have a clear t-light / candle holder attached to the back. They stand on their own and are 6 inches high and 4 inches wide. Tree color selections include forest green, bright white, or crystal clear with dichroic 'leaves' (for a stunning color changing piece!), and several colors of frit to choose from. Stand them together, or alone for a warm colorful glow anywhere in your home or office. These pieces will be a welcome addition to your holiday decorating. Proudly displayed, and hand made by YOU! Pick-up for your finished piece will be coordinated at class. About your instructor: Dody Bowman was first introduced to warm glass while she was teaching ceramics at the Kapalua Art School, Kapalua, Maui. She loved what you can do with glass and made her living the next 18 years on Maui selling her beautiful glass work in galleries, art fairs and craft events. To continue to learn and grow, she’s taken glass fusing classes with legendary glass artist, Patty Gray, and Master Class fusing with Tonya Veit, AAE Glass, whose work she admires. Dody has been actively firing glass for 25 years. Dody’s teaching philosophy: I want you to experiment and do your own thing art wise, while using my knowledge and experience to guide you on making a piece that will last forever. I want to help you learn the basics of glass, not only to have fun, but to create an amazing piece of your own. Through experimenting with combining colors and thicknesses of glass, I’ll help you understand what happens in the kiln and why.

Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your class up to 5 days prior to the class date to receive a refund, less the 5% service fee. If you cancel less than 5 days prior to the class date, you will not receive a refund. You may pass along your booking to a friend or family member by emailing info@artdock.org and include the replacement’s name and email.
